Rüdiger Sünner

channel bg

In his films and books, Rüdiger Sünner explores the intersections between spirituality, religion, mythology and art. Starting with the analysis of the National Socialist abuse of myths in the documentary "Schwarze Sonne" (Black Sun), he also explored contemporary forms of an "enlightened spirituality" by focusing on various protagonists (Paul Klee, Rudolf Steiner, C.G.Jung, Rainer Maria Rilke, Paul Celan, Joseph Beuys). The independence from broadcasting formats and editors' requests enables him to create his own film language, which may also contain poetic and meditative elements. Rather a "cinema of deceleration" than classic documentaries: "adventures in the intermediate zone of knowledge and transcendence" (Neue Zürcher Zeitung).
