Adrián Silvestre is a Spanish director and screenwriter known for his sensitive, realistic portrayals of identity, belonging, and social outsiders. With his documentary-inspired style, he succeeds in combining personal stories with universal themes. He gained international attention with the film MY EMPTINESS AND I (2022), in which he tells the story of a young trans woman searching for her place in society between self-discovery and emotional alienation. The film premiered at the Berlinale and was nominated for its direction at the Círculo de Escritores Cinematográficos, among others. Silvestre had already attracted attention with Les amigues de l'Agata (2015), a collaborative project with graduates of Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. He further developed his own directing style in Los objetos amorosos (2016), a sensitive work about two women searching for a new life in Rome. This was followed in 2021 by Sediments, a documentary portrait of six trans women, which was shown at international festivals and won several awards, including at the Málaga Film Festival and LesGaiCineMad in Madrid. Silvestre's work is characterized by authenticity, emotional depth, and a respectful view of the complexity of human relationships. His filmmaking represents a progressive, socially relevant approach to European cinema. With a mixture of documentary precision and cinematic poetry, Adrián Silvestre is one of the most important new voices in Spanish auteur cinema.
