Born in 1995, Alessandro Basso is an Italian director and screenwriter who graduated from the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome. He gained international attention with his short film "Happy New Year, Jim" (2022), which premiered in the Orizzonti section of the 79th Venice International Film Festival. Just one year later, the filmmaker was invited back to Venice, where his next short film "Holidays" ("Le Ferie," 2023) also screened in the Orizzonti competition. Basso's works are often characterized by a sensitive exploration of family relationships and moments of transition. Through these repeated successes, he has established himself as a relevant voice in young Italian cinema.
