Alexander Scheer, born in 1976 in East Berlin, is a versatile German actor and musician active in both film and theater. He had his breakthrough in 1999 in Leander Haußmann's cult comedy *Sonnenallee* (Sun Alley). For his intense portrayal of the singer-songwriter Gerhard Gundermann in the biopic *Gundermann* (2018), he was honored with the German Film Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. He received another Lola, this time for Best Supporting Actor, for his role in Andreas Dresen's drama *Rabiye Kurnaz vs. George W. Bush* (2022). Alongside his film work, he was a formative member of the ensemble at Berlin's Volksbühne under Frank Castorf and continues to perform as a musician.
