Alfred Edel (1932–1993) was a German art historian and actor who became a defining figure in German independent film. A long and intensive artistic partnership connected him with director Christoph Schlingensief. This collaboration resulted in seminal works such as *100 Years of Adolf Hitler – The Last Hour in the Führerbunker* (1989) and *The German Chainsaw Massacre* (1990), in which Edel played leading roles. He had previously appeared in productions by renowned filmmakers like Werner Schroeter and Rosa von Praunheim, solidifying his status as a cult figure in alternative cinema.
