Bente Kahan is a Norwegian actress, singer, and musician, born on September 23, 1958. She is particularly known for her work in theater and music, often focusing on Jewish cultural heritage. Kahan studied performing arts in Tel Aviv and New York, and she has performed in various theaters across Europe. Throughout her career, she has been engaged in numerous solo performances, often incorporating Yiddish and Hebrew songs as well as theater pieces reflecting Jewish history and culture. Some of her notable works include the theater productions "Bessarabia," "Farewell Cracow," and "Voices from Theresienstadt." In addition to her work on stage, Kahan is also the founder of the Bente Kahan Foundation, which focuses on preserving Jewish heritage, particularly in Wroclaw, Poland, where she has been instrumental in restoring the White Stork Synagogue. Her contributions to culture and arts have been recognized with several awards, including the Wroclaw Mayor's Award for her cultural contributions to the city.
