Indian actor and performer Bishesh Huirem hails from the state of Manipur and is a recognized figure in traditional Shumang Leela theatre. For her performance in the film 'Ang-Ngao', she was honored with the Best Actor award at the 2018 Manipur State Film Awards. Huirem gained international attention in 2016 when she represented India at the Miss International Queen beauty pageant in Thailand. Due to her influence, the Election Commission also appointed her as a 'State Icon' for Manipur to promote electoral participation.
