Charlotte Schwab (born December 17, 1952 in Basel) is a distinguished Swiss actress who has made a name for herself through her theater work and extensive film and television roles. She completed her acting training at the State Conservatory for Music and Acting in Bern and began her stage career in Trier in 1974. This was followed by permanent engagements at the Staatstheater Darmstadt, Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, Schauspielhaus Bremen, Schaubühne Berlin, Schauspielhaus Zürich, and Thalia Theater Hamburg. Since 2016, she has been a member of the ensemble at the Residenztheater Munich, where she was awarded the Kurt Meisel Prize in 2022 for her outstanding theater work. Schwab became known to a wider audience in 1997 through her role as Anna Engelhardt in the action series “Alarm für Cobra 11 – Die Autobahnpolizei,” which she played until 2008 and returned to for an anniversary special in 2016. From 2002 to 2012, she played Chief Inspector Marion Ahrens in the ZDF crime series “Das Duo,” which earned her lasting popularity on German television. Her film roles include “Zwingli” (2019) by Stefan Haupt, in which she plays the historical figure Maria, and “Un homme très recherché” (2014) by Anton Corbijn. She has also appeared in films such as LETZTE RUNDE, “Jenseits der Stille” (1996), “Das Wunder von Bern” (2003), and TV episodes such as “Tatort,” “Polizeiruf 110,” “SOKO Leipzig,” “Die Toten am Meer,” “Wiener Blut,” and “Notruf Hafenkante.” Charlotte Schwab impresses with her remarkable presence on stage and on screen. She is multilingual (German, French, Italian, English), has received numerous awards, and is considered one of the most prominent actresses in the German-speaking theater and television world.
