David Robert Mitchell is an American film director and screenwriter known for his work in independent cinema. He made his feature film debut in 2010 with THE MYTH OF THE AMERICAN SLEEPOVER, a coming-of-age drama that premiered at the South by Southwest Festival and won the Special Jury Prize. This was followed in 2014 by the critically acclaimed horror film “It Follows”, which is considered a modern classic of the genre. Mitchell directed and wrote the screenplay for this film. In 2018, he directed the neo-noir film “Under the Silver Lake”, starring Andrew Garfield. Mitchell was also the director and screenwriter for this film. Mitchell is praised for his unique narrative style and visual aesthetic that characterizes his films.
