He was a distinguished Austrian actor and radio play narrator who became known to a wide audience through his role as Sergente Alvise in the “Donna Leon” film adaptations over a period of almost two decades. In the thriller FEIERTAG (2002/2003), directed by Detlef Bothe, Mössmer played the role of Sam, a lonely miner from Tyrol. When he joins a group celebrating New Year's Eve, he triggers an escalating dynamic that oscillates between loneliness, intoxication, and aggressive escalation.
