Elīna Garanča is a renowned Latvian mezzo-soprano opera singer rather than an actor or director. She gained international recognition for her rich voice, expressive performances, and versatility in roles. Born on September 16, 1976, in Riga, Latvia, Garanča studied at the Latvian Academy of Music before building a formidable career in opera. Her breakthrough came in 2003 at the Salzburger Festspiele. Notable roles include Carmen in Bizet's "Carmen" and Octavian in Strauss's "Der Rosenkavalier." Garanča has performed at major opera houses like the Metropolitan Opera, Vienna State Opera, and Royal Opera House. She has also earned several awards, including the ECHO Klassik award and the MIDEM Classical Award.
