The French director and cinematographer Emmanuel Gras, born in 1976, graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure Louis-Lumière. His documentary film *Bovines ou la vraie vie des vaches* (2011) received a César Award nomination for Best Documentary Film. He gained international recognition with *Makala* (2017), a work that won the Grand Prize in the Semaine de la Critique section at the Cannes Film Festival. His more recent work as a filmmaker includes the film *Un peuple* (2023), which was presented as part of the ACID program in Cannes.
