Ernst Stötzner is a German actor and director who was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1952. After studying acting at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts from 1974 to 1976, he found his artistic home at the Berlin Schaubühne in 1978. His career includes theater, film, and television roles. In the theater, he has worked with renowned directors such as Peter Stein, Luc Bondy, and Klaus Michael Grüber. His well-known film appearances include a role in NIE WIEDER SCHLAFEN (Never Sleep Again) from 1992, directed by Pia Frankenberg. Other notable works in his filmography include Was bleibt (What Remains) from 2012, Underground from 1995, and his appearances in the successful television series Charité and Babylon Berlin. He is married to Dörte Lyssewski and has one child. In 2002, he won an award for best actor in North Rhine-Westphalia. His decades of stage experience at the Schaubühne Berlin have shaped his work as an actor both in theater and on camera, making him one of the most respected German character actors of his generation.
