Eva Mattes is a German actress born on December 14, 1954, in Tegernsee, Bavaria, Germany. She gained prominence through her collaborations with notable directors such as Rainer Werner Fassbinder and Werner Herzog. Among her most acclaimed performances is her role in "The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant" (1972) directed by Fassbinder. She also appeared in Herzog's "Woyzeck" (1979) alongside Klaus Kinski and received critical acclaim for her performance in Herzog's "Stroszek" (1977). Mattes won the Best Supporting Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival in 1979 for her role in "Woyzeck". Additionally, she received the German Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in the 1981 film "Kopfstand". Over the years, she has also been a prominent figure in German television, notably starring in the long-running series "Tatort" from 2002 to 2016.
