Gessica Geneus is a Haitian actor, director, and documentary filmmaker. She began her career as a performer at a young age, appearing in films such as “Barikad” (2003). She gained international attention with her feature directorial debut, “Freda” (2021). The film premiered at the Cannes International Film Festival in the “Un Certain Regard” section and was selected as the Haitian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the Academy Awards. For “Freda,” she also received numerous awards, including the Silver Stallion of Yennenga (Étalon d'Argent) at the pan-African film festival FESPACO in 2021.
