Hannah Dörr

Director

Hannah Dörr is a German director and artist who has attracted attention with innovative narrative forms and visually striking works in film and media art. Her cinematic signature is characterized by a keen eye for social issues and a consistent aesthetic approach that moves between documentary observation and symbolic condensation. With her feature film DAS MASSAKER VON ANRÖCHTE (2021, director: Hannah Dörr), she has created a work that combines darkly humorous provincial satire and media-critical elements into an idiosyncratic genre mix. The film was presented at the Munich Film Festival, among other venues, where it attracted attention with its unusual tonality and visual design. In her directing work, Dörr combines cinematic image composition with precise characterization, creating a balance between formal rigor and emotional depth. In addition to her work on DAS MASSAKER VON ANRÖCHTE, Hannah Dörr has made several short films that have been shown at international festivals. These include Midas oder die schwarze Leinwand (2014), an experimental short film that explores the relationship between image and perception, as well as other works that are characterized by a clear visual language and conceptual precision. Her films have been screened at the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen and the Filmkunstfest Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, among others. Dörr was awarded the North Rhine-Westphalia Prize for Young Artists for her cinematic work. In addition to her work as a director, she also works as a set designer and develops cross-media art projects that lie at the intersection of film, theater, and installation. Hannah Dörr is thus one of the exciting voices of a young generation of German directors who are breaking down genre boundaries and finding new visual forms of expression for social issues.
