Hendrik Arnst was a German actor who worked in film, television, and theater for many years and reached a wide audience thanks to his versatility. After training at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin, he joined the ensemble at the Volksbühne, where he worked with influential directors in the German theater scene. His cinematic presence was evident in productions that ranged from arthouse to television and genre cinema. In DAS MASSAKER VON ANRÖCHTE (2021, directed by Hannah Dörr), Arnst played the character of Inspector Konka – a role that impressively underscored his distinctive style and ability to combine suspense with subtle irony. The film was funded by the Filmstiftung NRW, among others, and received considerable attention at German festivals and on television. In addition to his film role in this work, Arnst also appeared in well-known TV formats such as “Tatort” and “Polizeiruf 110,” where he made a name for himself as a character actor with extensive stage and camera experience. Previous engagements also included work on cinema productions such as “Enemy at the Gates” (2001, directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud) and “The Cat's Meow” (2001, directed by Peter Bogdanovich), in which he appeared in supporting roles. Arnst received high recognition within the theater scene for his artistic work. The Volksbühne Berlin posthumously honored him as an “actor with an unmistakable attitude and a deep sense of humor.” Hendrik Arnst is remembered as a defining figure of German ensemble theater and as a versatile film and television actor who always filled his roles with precision, intelligence, and humanity.
