Karim Leklou
Actor
Karim Leklou is a French actor who, with his impressive presence and emotional complexity, has become one of the most exciting character actors in French cinema. He became known for his memorable supporting roles before establishing himself in leading roles in arthouse and auteur films. In KLEINE RIESEN (2011, directed by Bouli Lanners), Leklou appeared in an ensemble film about teenage runaways, which was a hit at international festivals and won several Magritte Awards. In SONS OF RAMSES (2022, directed by Clément Cogitore), he took on the lead role of Ramsès, a self-proclaimed seer in the Goutte d'Or district of Paris who is suddenly confronted with a real threat. The film was screened at Cannes in the Semaine de la Critique series and cemented Leklou's reputation as an actor with great inner tension and authenticity. In 2017, he gave a convincing performance in IF YOU SAW HIS HEART (directed by Joan Chemla), a dark drama about guilt and redemption that premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. In LOVING MEMORIES, he demonstrated his ability to express quiet suffering and inner turmoil with minimalist intensity. He also starred in films such as Le monde est à toi (2018, directed by Romain Gavras) and The Wakhan Front (2015, directed by Clément Cogitore), which underscore his range between social realism and surreal storytelling. Karim Leklou has received numerous awards for his performances, including a César nomination for Best Young Actor. With his charismatic restraint, physical expressiveness, and flair for quiet conflict, he is now considered one of the central voices of modern French cinema.
