Karin Hanczewski, born on December 22, 1981, in Berlin, is a distinguished German actress with a strong theater and television profile. She began her acting training at the European Theater Institute in Berlin and gained her first stage experience at the Junges Theater Göttingen before moving into film and television. Hanczewski played the title role in the award-winning feature film LOTTE (2016), directed by Julius Schultheiß. She portrays the unconventional nurse Lotte, whose impulsive attitude toward life and inner search for freedom and responsibility are depicted with subtle intensity. The film's premiere at the Berlinale in 2016 brought her to the attention of a wider audience.
