Magdalena Montezuma

Magdalena Montezuma, born Eva-Monika Reiser (1942–1984), was a formative actor and artist of the New German Cinema. Her intense collaboration with director Werner Schroeter made her an icon of German auteur cinema. Her best-known works include Schroeter's films "The Death of Maria Malibran" (1972) and the Golden Bear-winning film "Palermo or Wolfsburg" (1980). She also appeared in productions by Ulrike Ottinger and Rainer Werner Fassbinder. In addition to her work as a performer, Montezuma was also active as a production and costume designer, as well as a painter and photographer.
