The French director, screenwriter, and actor Maïwenn Le Besco, born in 1976, is a versatile voice in European cinema. Her social drama *Polisse* (2011), which she directed and also appeared in, won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. With further directorial works like *Mon Roi* (2015) and *DNA* (2020), she deepened her exploration of complex family and relationship dynamics. Her historical drama *Jeanne du Barry* (2023), in which she played the lead role, opened the Cannes Film Festival. Maïwenn's filmmaking is often characterized by an intense, realistic style.
