Marie-Lou Sellem, born on June 19, 1966, in Göttingen, is a German-French actress who has been a fixture in film, television, and theater for decades. She completed her training at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. She had her breakthrough in Tom Tykwer's Winter Sleepers. One of her most notable works is the short film SPIELT KEINE ROLLE (2015), directed by Annika Pinske. In this film, Sellem plays the role of Ingrid in a sensitive drama about coping with grief and the unusual rapprochement between a mother and daughter after the death of their father. Her best-known film and television roles include Nichts bereuen (2001, directed by Benjamin Quabeck), in which she plays Sister Anna. She also appeared in the crime drama Wolfsfährte (2010, directed by Urs Egger), where she plays Dr. Susanne Eckhardt. Most recently, she impressed in Knochen und Namen (2023, directed by Fabian Stumm) in the role of Jeanne – a highly acclaimed film at the Berlinale.
