Pooya Abbasian
Director
Born in Tehran, Iran, in 1982, filmmaker Pooya Abbasian first studied civil engineering before turning to cinema and training at the Karnameh Film School. His short film 'The Fox' (Rûbâh, 2013) gained international attention and was screened in 2014 in the Generation Kplus section of the Berlinale. In 2018, he presented his feature film debut, 'Mirage' (Sarāb), a project that was previously developed at the Locarno Film Festival's Open Doors Hub. In addition to his directorial work, Abbasian is also active in other areas of filmmaking, for instance as the editor for the documentary 'Hayedeh: Legendary Persian Diva' (2009).
