Canadian actor Rémy Girard, born in Quebec in 1950, is a formative figure in French-language cinema. His long-standing collaboration with director Denys Arcand brought him international recognition, particularly for the films *The Decline of the American Empire* (1986) and its sequel, *The Barbarian Invasions* (2003). For his performance in *The Barbarian Invasions*, he was honored with the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival. Girard's acting range is also evident in works such as Denis Villeneuve's Oscar-nominated drama *Incendies* (2010). He also took on central roles in more recent productions like *And the Birds Rained Down* (2019) and *Testament* (2023).
