Richard Gere

Richard Gere, born in Philadelphia in 1949, is an American actor who began his career in the 1970s. He gained international recognition through films like 'American Gigolo' (1980) and the romantic comedy 'Pretty Woman' (1990). For his performance in the musical film 'Chicago' (2002), he was honored with a Golden Globe Award. He received further nominations for this award for 'An Officer and a Gentleman' (1982) and 'Arbitrage' (2012), among others. His most recent project, the film 'Oh, Canada' (2024), premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. In addition to his film work, Gere has been a human rights activist for many years.
