Rolf Lassgård, born on March 29, 1955, in Östersund, is a Swedish actor of international renown. He became particularly well known for his masterful portrayal of Inspector Kurt Wallander in the film adaptations of Henning Mankell's novels. One of his most outstanding film roles was as the psychologist in A Man Called Ove (2015, directed by Hannes Holm), for which he received several awards. Other notable films include Downsizing (2017, directed by Alexander Payne), The Hunters (1996, directed by Kjell Sundvall), and After the Wedding (2006, directed by Susanne Bier). He appeared in STORM (2009, directed by Hans-Christian Schmid), a highly acclaimed political thriller about a war crimes tribunal, in which he plays an EU special representative. Lassgård is equally present on television. He has made his mark on various series formats such as Sebastian Bergman (2012, directed by, among others), The Investigation (2020, miniseries, directed by, among others), Hunter – Deadly Greed (2018, directed by Jens Jonsson), Exit (2019–2023), Blackwater (2023), and Whiskey on the Rocks (2024), which showcase his versatility and flair for complex roles.
