Scott Cohen, born on December 19, 1961, in the Bronx, New York, is an American actor and producer. He achieved international recognition for his role as Max Medina in the popular series Gilmore Girls (2000–2003, various directors). He has also appeared in series such as Law & Order: Trial by Jury (2005–2006), Necessary Roughness (2011–2013), The Fix (2019), and the HBO miniseries The Penguin (2024). Cohen is known for films such as The Mambo Kings (1992, directed by Arne Glimcher) and Kissing Jessica Stein (2001, directed by Charles Herman-Wurmfeld). In 2015, he took on a memorable supporting role in JAMES WHITE (2015, directed by Josh Mond), a highly acclaimed drama that won the NEXT Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival. Other films he has appeared in include Anesthesia (2015, directed by Tim Blake Nelson) and As You Are (2016, directed by Miles Joris-Peyrafitte). Although Cohen has not yet received any major acting awards, he is recognized for his compelling performances in indie films and series. His diverse work ranges from family dramas to genre films to crime series — always carried by his strong character acting.
