Selin Kavak is an actress born in Ankara and living in Berlin who has made a name for herself through her multilingual performances and close connection to contemporary theater and independent film. Her artistic career includes work in Germany and Turkey as well as recurring roles in film and television productions. A defining project in her filmography is the dystopian feature film JUNK SPACE BERLIN from 2022 by director Juri Padel, in which Kavak plays the role of Akira. The film screened at international festivals, including the Oldenburg International Film Festival, and won an award for sound design at the Torino Cinefest. She also gained international visibility through her role as Hura in the Turkish science fiction film In the Shadows by Erdem Tepegöz, which was honored with the Special Jury Prize Silver George at the Moscow International Film Festival and received a SİYAD Special Prize at the Antalya Altin Portakal Film Festival. In the short film sector, Ms. Nebiles Wurmloch is one of her most striking works; the film won the Audience Award at the !f Istanbul Independent Film Festival. In addition, theater productions such as Sommer Nacht Traum (Summer Night's Dream) and Am Ende ist man immer nur wer anders (In the End, You Are Always Someone Else) shape her artistic presence, which is complemented by nominations and awards such as the IKARUS Prize and the WILDWECHSEL Prize. On television, Kavak has appeared in Tatort, Blutige Anfänger, Wahrheit oder Lüge – Die Macht der Frauen, and Made in Germany, among others. With Matze, Kebab und Sauerkraut, she expanded her profile in the ZDF television film and strengthened her position within German-language TV productions. Thanks to her versatility and multilingual repertoire, she is one of those voices that make transcultural perspectives visible in film and theater.
