Seyneb Saleh, born on December 25, 1987, in Aalen, Baden-Württemberg, is a versatile German actress who impresses with her presence in film, television, and theater. She studied acting from 2008 to 2012 at the Berlin University of the Arts and received the Ensemble Prize at the Schauspielschultreffen (Acting School Meeting) in Hamburg in 2011. One of Saleh's most notable film appearances is in UMSONST (2014), a coming-of-age drama directed by Stephan Geene. She plays one of the teenagers who no longer feels at home in Berlin-Kreuzberg after spending time abroad. Her other notable film roles include Das rote Zimmer (2010, directed by Rudolf Thome) and Offroad (2012, directed by Elmar Fischer) – both early cinema projects that enabled her to break into professional acting. She became known internationally through the Netflix production Mute (2018, directed by Duncan Jones), in which she played the mysterious Naadirah and presented her acting skills to a wide audience.
