Militarization and prostitution: When peacekeeping troops moved into Kosovo and Bosnia-Herzegovina, trafficking in women quickly followed suit.

Militarization and prostitution: When peacekeeping troops moved into Kosovo and Bosnia-Herzegovina, trafficking in women quickly followed suit.

The disparity between an impoverished civil population and the spending power of security forces encourages new and criminal 'business ideas' to gain a foothold in crisis zones. THE PEACEKEEPERS AND THE WOMEN shows how the trafficking of women and girls and forced prostitution in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo has advanced into a lucrative economic sector. Members of the international troops and the aid organizations stationed there are some of the slave holders' well-heeled customers. Women and girls from Moldavia and other areas are often lured with false promises into the conflict zone. Women and girls from Moldova and other regions are often lured into the conflict zone with false promises.

Karin Jurschick sheds light on the untenable conditions in her groundbreaking documentary, which won her the award for Best German Documentary at the Duisburg Film Week and the Adolf Grimme Prize.
