This delicate ensemble film tells the story of the Leblancs and their well-kept family secret.

This delicate ensemble film tells the story of the Leblancs and their well-kept family secret.

The film centers on David, whose father dies at the beginning of the film. A suicide, as David will learn years later. In life David is seen as 'the lucky one'.

He doesn't seem to be doing well after all. The movie rarely makes explicit what exactly is going on inside him. "I live through you," he writes to his daughter Laurence in her diary.

Each episode of OUR LOVED ONES chronicles the life choices and new trajectories taken by the family members.

The family history of the Leblancs across generations: Anne Émond's Our Loved Ones opens with gravity, then lets lightness in and hides the real drama - not in the visuals - but behind the smiling façade of the main character.
