Adam, 60, lives in Chad and is the proud lifeguard of a hotel pool. When his son and co-worker Abdel is to take over his position, he sells him to the army.
After a Chinese investor takes over the hotel where Adam and his son work, Adam has to leave and make way for the next generation. At the same time, a rebel group is waging a bloody civil war against the government.
So Adam kills two birds with one stone: His son Abdel is "kidnapped" by the army. In this way, Adam can retain his job, which provides him with an sense of identity, and appease the local military at the same time. But the guilt weighs heavily on him.
