Photojournalist Camille goes to the Central African Republic to cover a brewing civil war. What she sees there will change her destiny forever.
Camille is a young French photojournalist who believes images can do more than report – they can reveal what the world chooses not to see. When she travels to the Central African Republic, she encounters a country shaped by rising violence and political tension, and a population caught between fear, hope and survival.
Rather than observing from a safe distance, Camille seeks closeness to the people living through the conflict. With patience and empathy, she earns their trust and gains access to perspectives few outsiders ever reach – even within the world of armed militias. But the longer she stays, the more the line between professional witnessing and personal responsibility begins to blur.
CAMILLE tells the story of a young woman determined not only to document, but to understand – as she is drawn deeper into a conflict that will change her life forever. The film is based on the true story of journalist Camille Lepage, who was killed in the Central African Republic in 2014 at the age of 26. Her real photographs and footage are woven into the film, giving it an urgent immediacy.
