Set in the rolling hills of the English countryside, Philophobia by Guy Davies takes a fresh look at the high school film genre.

Set in the rolling hills of the English countryside, Philophobia by Guy Davies takes a fresh look at the high school film genre.

After a fateful encounter with one of the most beautiful girls at school, our pedantic poet is thrown into the hot-seat of romance and intrigue.

He struggles to keep himself and his love life in one piece. Juxtaposed against a backdrop of densely-wooded greens and small-town English pleasantries, aspiring writer Kai and his buddies are gearing up for their last week of high school.

Otherwise, he’s up on the library roof, slinging back beers and blunts with old chums like Megsy, plotting the ultimate prank, and staring at the girl living across street.

"PHILOPHOBIA is a tense and charming exploration of youth gone wild. The cinematography manages to flip back and forth between the real world and our main character’s perspective with an almost lucid dream-like sensation that’s genuinely hard to describe - an utterly fascinating piece of cinema." (Bytebsu)

Starring Harry Lloyd as Mr. Jackson, James Faulkner as Mr. Hurt, Joshua Glenister as Kai, Kim Spearman as Grace, and Kate Isitt as Sammy's mother.
