David Hess was an American actor, singer, and songwriter, best known for his roles in horror films. He gained prominence with his performance as Krug Stillo in Wes Craven's controversial 1972 film "The Last House on the Left." Hess's intense portrayal of the sadistic villain earned him a lasting place in cult cinema. In addition to acting, Hess had a successful music career. He wrote songs for Elvis Presley, including "All Shook Up" and "Come Along," and worked with other notable artists. As a director, Hess helmed the 1980 film "To All a Goodnight." Despite his significant contributions to both music and film, Hess did not receive major awards during his career. He continued to work in the horror genre, appearing in movies like "Hitch-Hike" (1977) and "House on the Edge of the Park" (1980) until his death in 2011.
