Jannik Weiße

Born and raised in Schwäbisch Hall in southern Germany, Jannik Weiße worked in Berlin as a journalist and author for well-known documentary and reportage formats for public and private broadcasters. He is currently studying feature film directing at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. His short film PARADIESVOGEL premiered in competition at the 42nd Max Ophüls Preis Film Festival and was awarded the NEXT GENERATION SHORT TIGER 2021 in Cannes by the FFA and German Films. His latest medium-length film BABYBOY, a German-Austrian co-production, premiered at the 19th achtung berlin - the new berlin film award. It won the jury and audience awards at the 23rd SHORTS - Trinational Film Festival at Offenburg University of Applied Sciences. Jannik is also involved in intercultural work with children and young people and regularly gives film workshops, most recently at the international youth theater festival of the Freilichtspiele Schwäbisch Hall.
