Sasha Mazzotti

Sasha Mazzotti, born in London in 1968 and raised in Basel, is a versatile theater professional and politician. After studying acting at the Zurich University of the Arts, she worked as a director and actress at the Hans Otto Theater in Potsdam from 1995. Further studies in improvisation and physical theater took her to London from 1999 to 2001. Since 2002, Mazzotti has been working as a freelance theater director and has been engaged at renowned theaters such as the Staatstheater Braunschweig and the DNT Weimar. With her company sofamobile Basel and the ex/ex Theater Basel, she has been realizing her own productions since 2006 and also performs there herself. In addition to her artistic work, Sasha Mazzotti has been a member of the Basel cantonal parliament since 2017. Her directorial work includes, among other things, the staging of Shakespeare's “Twelfth Night” at the Barfüsserruine in Erfurt. She also works as a speaker for English and German texts and is currently preparing a solo show in which she will be on stage herself for the first time in eight years.
